The Takes

Under mounds of wires and video screens
Through digital back ways a darker life teems
Who dwells in the darkness?
Who writhes in delight?
When their fingers spit venom
And tie nooses to tight

Why only the Takes, who hide deep in the walls
Of smiles, and chuckles, and 911 calls
What reason defines them?
What roles do they play?
When red hearts go missing
And dreams walk away

They're hunting for something, to fill in a hole
That festers and seeps way down deep in their soul
Who riddled this socket?
Who took out the breaks?
With no hope of their own
It is ours they will Take
