The Tall Man

I walked from door to door
Looking from store to store
I was lonely I'll admit
But only for a bit
That was when I met him
I was crossing the street when I tripped
The tall man caught me
I was filled with glee
He saved me from oncoming traffic
And I can never forget it
He took me to dinner
He bought me dessert
When we were apart it hurt
Months went by
We cried
We laughed
But my heart was hit with a pang
He left me
He walked from door to door
He walked from store to store
He was in search of a ring
A ring for me
He ran into traffic
And I can never forget it
I can't save him
But I can love him
