The Tether

By

Free as a bird like a hawk I did fly,
With claws and no malice ripped a gash in the sky!
Free as a bird like a vulture I did soar,
Impunity and death was my legacy and lore.

Free as a bird like an owl I would descend,
Grasping the rodent that was never to win.
Free as a bird like a sparrow I did play!
Fighting with others at the end of the day.

Free as a bird like a seagull on the wing,
Plucked up my meals; the flying theft king!
Free as a bird singing songs of the loon,
Never would I leave the placid lagoon.

Free as a bird the ostrich never flew,
Running forever; the experience; never new!
Free as a bird like a kite in the winds!
Holds the string; does my wife; forever my friends!
