The Time We Didn’t Have

There are so many words in this language to say
but when his name is called, there is no right way
He was loved by so many no one could disagree
Why did he have to leave before he met me
There are so many stories, laughs, and cries
The love for him still shines in my father's eyes
Why did he go, why couldn't I meet him
Many people say things happen for a reason
Although it is true, I still don't understand
Why did he go before I got to touch his hands
He left behind a daughter and a wife
He should have had a much longer life
Although I never met him I still could say
He is the best great-grandfather to this day
