The Tribulation

The Tribulation
The addict is fit, the nonsmoker a cancer patient
The culprit celebrates, the victim imprisoned
The bully chosen, the talented criticized
The hard worker slayed, the shrewd ranked
The drunkard walks, the sober hit dead
The violent husband accepted, the beaten wife rejected
The sharp tongue pitied, the hurt soul blamed
The showman praised, the doer unnoticed
The truth hidden, the lie spread
Once in ages the gem is discovered
When the innocent; through trial
Strong enough to handle victory
And the guilty; pampered on a bed of roses
too weak to survive defeat.
