The Trip

I trek through snow on the Colorado plains
This time I will take the reins
My bow is tight against my hip
This hill is steep, I hope I don't slip
I creep along and crouch down low
Sometimes this stalk is so darn slow
I peek over, wow he's huge
But maybe not, it's hard to judge
The sun is setting way too quick
All I need is just one click
I draw back, the string is tight
I'm not going down without a fight
I take a deep breath and let 'er fly
I may have aimed a little high
He runs right towards me, straight through the heart
What a beautiful new piece of wall art!
