The Truth

Truth is…. my love for you once overwhelmed my heart.
I had faith in your love and trusted you from the start.
Who knew in the end, you'd rip my heart apart?
Man, you thought you were smart.

Truth is…. you didn’t think
I had the strength to leave.
Remember the moment things stopped being all about us
and turned into a you and a me.
That's when God opened the door and let me breathe.
Blindsided by a day you never imaged you’d live to see.

Truth is…. Just when you thought you had me bound,
God whispered in my ear and said you are royalty.
Then I realized you failed to love me properly.
You see, God loves me unconditionally.
Released from bondage, shackles, chains
Oh, the damage you caused my brain.
So, go do you and let me be.
I'm giving my love to God, the one who rescued me.
