The Truth About Us

We were all born free creatures
Meant to dance with the wind
Sing with the birds
Feel happiness by the sun
And feel peace by the light of the full moon

Instead,
We tie ourselves to things that send illusions
To our minds and fool our hearts
We seek beauty in other humans
Rather than within ourselves
We sacrifice all that we are
To build a home in the heart of another being
And when it all begins to fade
We feel abandoned and unloved
Alone and empty
We forget who we really are
Because we become so busy losing ourselves in the things we love
That we barely have the time to love ourselves
And admire the true value that has always been within us
