The unbreakable bond

The happiest he made me feel,
When darkness was all I could see;
Gave me the strength enough to,
Fight the demons inside me.
He knew the person that I hid, but,
Still gave me love unconditional,
Made me feel like I was someone,
Who wasn't just some irrational.

Today, I remember him with tears,
I can't fade the memories we had;
All the long walks that we went on,
The beautiful duo of father and son.

"I'll do anything to stay with you",
Were the words I used to say;
But reaching him now is hard,
And I'm quite afraid to go that way.

I can't help but think every day,
"I wish I had a sharper mind,
To see that he was fading away,
And save him when he had time."
