The Water In the Lake

The Water in the Lake awaits
For Spring to bring it fully awake
Under Ice it's been since Fall
Locked in the grips of Winter's thrall
Now comes the Sun and warms the Air
Leaving Ice no longer there
Liquid again and clear to view
Ready for life to rise anew
Mixed by Wind's random motions
Welcoming Weather's warming potions
Brings Summer's heat and August's laze
The Lake basks in Sun's strong rays
Hoping to remain in this condition
The Lake believes it has fulfilled its mission
Then following Nature's inevitable plan
Forces combine to change things again
Doggedly giving up summer's grasp
Submitting to Autumn's cooler drafts
The Sun recedes again at last
Yielding to Winter's stormy blasts
The Lake sleeps now under Ice beneath
Longing for Spring to again be released
