The Way It Goes

All the things we played
All the dresses that frayed
Oh I knew they just couldn't be made
All the places we went
The postcards we sent
Oh I knew they couldn't be lent
But who would've thought
It wasn't our fault
We just grew up
Drinking a different cup
From the lava monsters
To the real gangsters
From adoring the teens
To knowing what it means
Things were different
Cuz now we're not children
Just a few pilgrims
Out on a whim
Because that's the journey
Won't you come with me
Yeah that's what I said
Before we were mislead
Because I know it hurts
It wasn't meant to
But that's just the way it goes
