The Way We Love

We treat people much like we treat the sun
We only want it when it is convenient
In the winter
We beg for her
Her light and warmth
And when it is night
And it is the moon's turn to take its place in the sky
We bash him and complain about it being too cold
But then summer comes
And when the sun comes up
We hate the scorching heat
Wanting for her to go away
Because now her light and warmth
Her brightness
Is too much to handle
And then we praise the moon
We love when he comes up at night
His perfect cooling air
But the sun and moon
Do not trust our love
They know how we humans are
The way we love
And how it changes
Almost as much
As the sun and moon change their places
In the sky
