the whistling bird

sushi sake soup
crowded isles
shuffling underfoot
whispers heard
songbirds teapots
singing a fair share
all amidst
the whistling bird
my favorite
asian nook

This Poems Story

Phyllis' inspiration for "The Whistling Bird" came about from her vintage collection of Japanese porcelain Sako Servers (possibly Kutani). These unique decanters have a bird on top that whistles when the beverage is poured and the cups whistle when sipped. They are hexagonal in shape approximately 6.5" and hand-painted with 24K gold accents.
