The Willow Tree

I sat there lonely
under the grand willow tree
I had no friends
no joy

the sun smiled at me
it gave me hope
but no sooner it had come
it was gone

suddenly a girl sat down
next to me
her mouth was running
a mile a minute
I was intimidated
at first

but we became friends
we understood each other
me as quiet
her as loud

and we sat together
under the smiling willow tree
