The Words of a Lover

I listen
As you speak the words
Of a true lover.

I observe
As you look at me gently
As if I am your world.

I gasp
As you say that you don't care
That our fathers are enemies.

I realize
As you hold me in your arms
That this is real, and rare.

I decide
That no matter what happens
I will never leave your side.

I smile
Because, Romeo,
You have stolen my heart.

I love
For, as a petty thief would,
You will never give it back.
