The Working Mom
Alarm clock rings, jump out of bed
Coffee is on, the kids are fed.
The cat is in, the dogs are out
Lunch is packed, the lost shoe is found.
The kids are off, fixed the gate
It's 10 to 9, I'm running late.
Grab my purse, find the keys
Hop in the car, please start, please.
Telephones ring, papers to file
Type another letter, add it to the pile.
Pour a cup of coffee, give it to the boss
Books don't balance, gotta find the cause.
Run a thousand copies, it's 5:15
What's for dinner? Hot dogs and beans.
Pick up the kids, hop back in the car
Open the mail, along with a jar.
Heat up the oven, throw in the wash
Another check bounced, good golly, oh gosh!
Answer the door, settle a fight
Mend some hurt feelings, turn on the porch light.
Homework is done, animals fed
Laundry is folded, made up the bed.
The clock has rung 10, now it's half past
The kids are asleep, ah, my coffee at last.
