The World Of Quarantine

By

It is today, but it is also tomorrow, and yesterday
In this museum of memories.
Memories of a world lost, altered, and forever changed.
The World has stopped in fear.
Bits of the old reality quietly play in the background
Then quickly fades into the moving shadows of our Mind.
Each day that passes is just tiny bits of the week, and,
Once sentimental objects are just ordinary things
That have lost all meaning.
Life as we know it is gone.
Sharing will no longer be in our children’s vocabulary.
DISINFECT is all that will be left to be ingrain.
Carrying hand sanitizer like a shield,
A barrier against the world of germs.
Face masks scream isolation
Smothering smiles, turning us into faceless creatures.
Yet the mere thought of the pandemic is suffocating.
It has changed the way we exist
Instilling a continuous fear into the next generation.
We cannot breathe, we cannot feel, we cannot see
Past this invisible terror
This is our new Normal.
