The World Tells Us

The world tells us to be ourselves.
The world tells us to speak our minds.
The world tells us to listen to everyone equally.
I live in a giant paradox
Because I do listen to everyone equally.
I do understand their opinions.
However, I don't receive the same courtesy.
They tell me to shut up.
They tell me I'm offensive.
They tell me I'm wrong.
Now I don't dare go against the world
Because every time I speak my beliefs,
I get an angry door slammed in my face.
I did what they told me,
I was being myself,
I spoke my mind,
But I guess it only works if I think exactly like them,
Because the world today is too touchy
To have anyone contradict it.
