The World Through My Eyes

I believe in yin and yang - in the idea that everyone is worthy,
I believe in kindness - something hidden beneath our ego, you see.
I believe in fairytales, in happy endings - not utopia, but humanity,
I believe in the courage that drives one person to stand up for another's integrity.
I believe in science and sensible superstition - like say, love is a medicine.
I believe in milkshakes and coffee dates over vodka and gin.
I believe in kindness - kindness that is costless,
kindness that can pull us out of our own mess.

I believe in smiling at strangers, helping an old lady cross the road.
I believe in feeding dogs, helping someone carry their emotional load.
I believe in selflessness, the idea of nonviolence,
I believe in the purity our heart carries, for in my family, cholesterol runs.
I believe in being the shoulder to someone's tears,
I believe in fearlessly overcoming our worst fears.
I believe and heartbreak, in giving a second chance,
I believe in homosexuality - in all forms of romance.
I believe in sending random appreciation letters,
I believe in waiting up on time and in oversized sweaters.
I believe in optimism,
In humanism not feminism.
I believe in messages sent in a bottle, in stargazing,
In double beds and bathroom singing.
I believe in yin and yang - in the idea that everyone is worthy,
I believe in kindness - something hidden beneath our ego, you see.
