The Wrong Thing

Listen -
Our days were nothing to spray-paint on the overpass
So I withheld those easy bleeding colors
For someone else

But our days were Cherry Docs and matted daisies
Ignored phone calls that drove me crazy
And somewhere along the line
I said the wrong thing

Apparently I built a fire
While sleepwalking under your desire
My broad shoulders meant to carry this
But they were always less than you required

And our teachers said we magnetized
Sat us down and "for now its fine-
But I promise you -
-One day you'll do the wrong thing"
