The Yellow Wallpaper

A lady lives inside my walls
She has long dark hair and is rather tall
She´s a daughter, a mother and a wife
And only at night does she come to life

She lives in a golden cage
And may not be set free until she behaves
Her body is trapped in her mind
And her mind is trapped in her body
Her voice calls out to me softly
"Set me free from my man-made hell"
It seems to me she´s not doing so well

Nobody else lives in my walls, just her alone
She cries because no one listens to her
She feels trapped
The silence is deafening

She hates the walls and so do I
I tear down my wall-paper, I must free what´s inside
She´s losing her mind but the rope keeps her together
Surely she can´t live like this forever
The world becomes small when yellow is all you see
I suppose in some way, the lady is now free

This Poems Story

After reading a short story at school which was also called The Yellow Wallpaper I believe, we were tasked to write something inspired by it. This is the result of that!
