There I Lain

The darkness surrounds me,
Pulling me down and down.
The walls are closing in,
No oxygen around.
But I now understand,
There are good times and bad.
Mom is mom, dad is dad.
The calm envelopes me.
I know the whole truth.
I will be acknowledged.
Now, I have been soothed.
My adoptee status,
While causing much pain,
It makes me who I am.
So, smiling, there i lain.
