there i sat

there i sat
like a kindergartener
criss-cross applesauce
hands in my lap
that way i could never get in trouble.
and then you came along
and there you sat
criss-cross applesauce
hands in your lap
looking me in my eyes
not longer searching for love
this was the first time i wanted to break free
from my seat
just to say
"hello, my name is marlee"
so i did and you responded
with words that meant more to me than their
earthly definition
my feelings began showing
leaking out of me like some kind of
chemical spill into the ocean except
there was no oil
just water to combine with mine
I became whole again
no longer just a drop
but i was the entire ocean
