There Was a Time

There was a time when I might have loved you.
You were cherished, the one I adhered.
Although you killed me, I had to pull through.

You were the one I had always looked to.
I was lost and nothing was ever clear.
There was a time when I might have loved you.

I was your beloved; your pain was my cue .
You used me to forget her, your worst fear.
Although you killed me, I had to pull through.

She was your curse and the one you'd pursue,
Despite what I gave you, you'd persevere.
There was a time when I might have loved you.

It was of no use, none of it was true.
I tried so hard but it wasn't worth the tears.
Although you killed me, I had to pull through.

The times went by and there's nothing to do.
I still long for you after these few years.
There was a time when I might have loved you.
Although you killed me, I had to pull through.
