This Cloak

This Cloak of pain
Sewn by you,
Worn by me,
Tailored by your hand
With threads of sorrow,
Filled through the years
With me in mind.
Lined with broken promises
That hide your shame,
Your guilt.

This cloak of pain
Fashioned for me,
Keeps me warm
On these cold, dark nights,
Pulled tight as I walk these streets,
Clinging to this fabric
Of what once was.

This cloak of pain
That you gave to me
Reminds me of days long dead
And I wear it well
