This Moment

I begin to run, with the clear blue water in sight

I reach out and grab my best friends' hand and interlace

my fingers with Katy's. My legs run with all their might

till the waves carry me away or until my face

is burning because of the salt. I run back onto shore

and turn to see the sun saying its goodbyes for the evening

and the vivid colors dancing in the sky.

I stay there for a while taking in every beam

of sunlight then running back to take one last dip.

I do my favorite thing in the water even though my eyes burn

I turn my body, so I see the sun's rays beaming

like stars twinkling in the night. But I was really yearning

to stay in this moment of peace,

Or that’s what I think, at least.
