“Though You’re Gone”

Hi, Aunt Sharnita
You’re gone and I MISS YOU
Helping me with my homework
while eating wings at Miss June’s
Making me laugh when I’ve felt blue
about something I failed to do
Seeing you in the audience while I dance
across the stage
Cheering me on and smiling with praise
Hanging out with me, my mom, Aunt Shenae,
and Maya
I wanted to tell you that I am 12
that Andre is 10
And we’ve grown much taller
I know you still watch me from up above
I know you’re having fun and that fills me with love
When my ticket to life expires
You will be the first person I’d wish to see
Everybody still feels your absence and that includes me
Some days are good
Some days are bad
Aunt Sharron reminds me so much of you
So I don’t feel as sad
Though you’re gone in a way you are still here
I love you, Aunt Sharnita but God loved you more
That I’m clear
