Thought of You
Trance of meditation flows from memories unspoken;
Thoughts remembered of you, thoughts of absence
Make visions unreal appear unasked.
Images breathe deeply from sublime to fearful,
From the truth to the lies that surround
Appear to my closed eyes that see in the dark.
I see you before me, bare-chested and silent,
Skin brown and glowing with radiant light
Waiting for an answer to questions unasked.
Inner vision become sight, incarnated into reality unwished.
The eyes of the Buddha are closed, glowing from the darkness,
But I venture closer without movement to see.
The eyes are yours.
Heavy lids open deliberately; eyes brown and deep, reflect love,
See into my soul with piercing insight of longing and despair,
With softness, gentleness and absence of judgment.
Tears fill my own eyes as I see your eyes free of shame or guilt
Smile unblinking, then fade into black, lids closing again,
Leaving me filled with deep sadness and longing.
