Three Steps Twice

The little footsteps inside my head
move oh-so slowly, yet oh-so quickly
I never question the unearthly pattering,
pounding, pulsing, prodding-inside my head
relentlessly pacing inside
Three a time, three a time
round and round; they circle tirelessly
never to stop; the ungainly rupturing,
roaming, roaring, resounding-inside my head
They always move
oh-so slowly, yet always oh-so quickly
Three a time, three a time
will they ever think of ceasing
this torment of motion and mania
moving oh-so slowly and oh-so quickly
while never understanding the uneasy tiptoeing
turning, treading, trudging-always there inside
my spinning mind
Three a time, three a time
the footsteps
