Three Years

I wonder how that must feel.
Walking away from someone who infinitely adored you.
Leaving someone who would never have done the same.
Nothing hurts more than showing someone all of you,
and having them reject you for being you.
You did not leave because of how I looked,
I could have lived with that.
You left me because of who I am as a person.
That more than anything will stay with me always.
A sharp blade shifting between my ribs,
a painful reminder with every shaky breath.
You made me believe in forever,
and in one single moment,
you took that from me.
