Through Words and Wires

Through the windy winding roads
She travels paths yet unknown.
Through thickets barbed with words and wires,
She soldiers forth
Not yet retired,
From dreams still sewn
And hopes afire.

She travels forward
Though brittle and bruised,
Riddle, with old sorrows and wounds.
The winds whispers have marred her,
Carried words of another.
Yet still she travels on.

Her history will follow her
No matter where she goes,
Layered with words and memories
Her past she once called home,
Forever lost behind her
And so she soldiers on,
Through thickets barbed with wire
And roads of days long gone.
