Tick, Tock

Have you ever watched the hands on a clock,
Watched as the seconds ticked by?
It's easy to miss between each tick-tock
How quickly that time can fly.

Sometimes we spend years in waiting for days--
Or days, in waiting for years
Weeks pass in a flash, no memory stays
And everything disappears.

For me, I've felt that time moves so fast,
I feel like I'm being chased by the past
When I was young, the future looked vast,
But now, I fear, my fate has been cast

I watched, couldn't move as time took her life,
then moved on to her memory
I watch, cannot move, as time takes each light--
takes everything-- from me.

Have you ever stopped the hands on a clock,
hoped the sun would stay still in the sky?
It's easy to miss between each tick, tock
How quickly that time can fly.
