It's as if my heart were a push and pull.
As if the ocean were grabbing at my feet,
Sweeping me away
Then spitting me up to shore, after realizing
I was not what it had desired.
I was not sand, a sea creature
Or a piece of driftwood
That it had wanted to swallow whole.
No, I was a girl who's heart was ripped,
Mind a wreck and stomach a wrung out rag.
