Time To Own

Our lives are measured in rotations, revolutions, and light
Of our Earth’s dance around our modest Sun
Yet, so limited is our sight

The world is beautiful and bright
Its glory, when noticed, will often us stun
While our lives are measured in rotations, revolutions, and light

The fortunate have many rights
But, not completely, or so it would seem, with our time what is done
And, so limited is our sight

Both day and night
Tackling each task, pursuing each grade, scrambling for each paycheck; constantly we run
As our lives are measured in rotations, revolutions, and light

Often our empty time has many sleights
Weary eyes, distant loved ones, resigned spirits; what is won?
Why, so limited is our sight?

Yet, do not despair; for we can come to own our time, letting it take flight
Grasping seconds, blessing minutes, gifting hours, discovering our joy, meaning, even fun
Rejoicing that our lives are measured in rotations, revolutions, and light
No longer so limited will be our sight
