To A Home That Was Never Mine

I want to go back
To a home that was never mine,
To the sneering gnomes placed at the garden edges,
Where my little feet hopped on and off a hundred stones
And slipped off the edges.
I want to go back
To a home that was never mine,
Where music made me weep,
Where emotions weren't just skin deep,
Where at the sight of dawn- my heart leaped.
I want to go back
To a home that was never mine,
Where I stored my dimes in a piggy bank,
Where I sat on dead, russet leaves by the river bank,
Where every rain drop was thanked.
The desperation towards something that never existed,
But simply created
Somewhere in this head of mine,
Stays in this heart of mine,
I want to go back
To a home that was never mine.
