To forget or to not

It’s been months since we parted ways
“We’ll be better off alone”, those were the last words you said
I never knew if I could be well without you
‘Let’s try’, I said to myself, ‘maybe we’d be through’

“Twenty-one days is all it takes”, you told me
“To forget or to change.
Be it an old habit or a memory of past
With determination, not more than that would it last.”

All these days I tried my best to forget
All that we had between us.
Be it those problem escaping late night walks,
Or those soul calming therapy talks.

I gave up on the fifth day
Thought, I’d live with it as my fate
But I wondered always
Would you forget me after 21 days?

Today, after months, I met you again
Without any word said, I found my answer
You said you never missed me all these days
But that ‘Angel’ kept on your desk, had something else to say
