To Grandma

I'm sorry I never
gave you kisses at bedtime
and pushed you away
whenever you tried to hug me.
I'm sorry I ran away
that one time when I was ten
because you wouldn't let me eat
those last two cookies in the jar.
I'm sorry I laughed
when you puckered your lips in those pictures
for all of your social media accounts.
I'm sorry I never taught you
to dance like Beyonce
and to twerk like Miley Cyrus.
I'm sorry I never thought
that you were cool or hip
enough to listen to pop music.
But most of all,
I'm sorry I never believed you
that morning you told me
you wouldn't be around much longer.
