To Loathe with Irony

When asked by others what poem I hate most,
Your whole life savings you can surely bet
My answer will be that from coast to coast,
I can't find a poem worse than a sonnet.
The rhythm and rhyme scheme required for
The poem to flow as it had been designed,
Means reading one can become quite a bore
And can confuse the life out of your mind.
Its origins can date back centuries
To when the verse was used by Avon's bard.
I favor a more modern verse to seize
Those who because of sonnets have been marred.
Wait just one second; on this case I'm done.
Through my hate for sonnets, I just wrote one!
