To Love and Be Loved

I believed I could dream a better dream,
But whoever gets what they believe?
He inspired me to believe.

I've always believed the ink would save me,
But his words inspired the dullness out of me.
He said, "Why would you want to dream a better dream darling?"

His dark brown eyes looked at me,
I felt as if he had compelled me to believe.
His soft features, his dark soul.
A vintage mind that would save me.

Just shut your eyes and believe that dream is yours.
So I did, my dream, it was to love and be loved.
But I could only hope it would be him that dream would lead me to.
