To Love Then to Hate

Fear is the greatest eraser they say,
And now I finally believe them.
To love then to hate made simple, they screamed,
To love then forget made easy,

And anger is the worst for love, she said,
And now I truly believe her.
To love then to hate made simple, she cried,
To never forget and it haunting my sleep,

And jealousy is the best destroyer, he said,
And now I fully believe him,
To love then to hate far too easy, he breathed,
To truly believe them unfaithful,

And that is all that I know about love,
Just how it destroys our lives,
Please, truly believe me when I sob,
To love then to hate is far too simple,
To love then forget should not be made easy.

To love then to hate made simple, I cry.
From anger and fear and jealousy.
But trust me when I say,
That hate is the fruit of our world,
Not the fruit of the ones we love.
