To Meet a Fiery Demise

To meet a fiery demise
you have to juggle lightning
and eat stars for breakfast
every day
To die a million different deaths
you must consult
with death himself
each passing year
And as he wields his mighty scythe
you too must feel
the weight of one true
Final death and mourn the loss
of your humanity
To see the universe implode and burst into a confetti of light
You must forget about your love
and leave your suit of skin behind
Embark on a long journey
to find the one
Who devours magic and consumes
all living things
Then you must ask
This sordid creature
About the taste
Of starlight on his tongue
And he will tell you
that no light has ever shone
so bright
Your midnight dreams he'll say provide him
with great sustenance
