To My Father-in-Law

No, You've never met me
But I've thought of you a lot.
I want to take this moment
To thank you for what I've got
I have a loving husband
Who treats me with respect.
So many awesome siblings
To keep us both in check.
You taught them all these virtues
And they live them every day.
They set a good example
For their children when they stray,
No matter what, they remember
What love is all about.
Because they always looked to you,
And your judgment carried clout.
Today marks the day
That you left this world behind.
But you never left your family
In a bad frame of mind.
You gave them all these gifts
To pass on to those they see.
So thank you for being my dad
Though you have never met me.
