To My Unborn Child

To my unborn child who never saw the light of day.
I am sorry I never got to hear you say, "I love you, mom.
Thank you for giving me life."
You didn't have a choice, but I did.
I wish I could hear you say, "I forgive."
I am sorry you didn't get to say your first word or take your first
step.
You never laughed, felt joy, had peace, or even wept.
No dreams fulfilled, no promises to you kept.
God was creating you, but I stopped Him in His tracks.
I was too selfish, too concerned about my own life to consider His
acts.
You were being wonderfully and beautifully made, but in the end,
I wouldn't let God's handiwork be saved.
I regret not letting you have life.
You should have been allowed to be what God was creating you to be.
I know you are with Him in heaven now, and someday I will see
what God created you to be.
