To See

At first I did not see
All the gifts that had been given to me
The house, fancy cars and money for any desire
I thought this was what life was all about
But still a vacuum encompassed me
I was measuring who I am by worldly things
Not of that higher power that truly fills
What I failed to see was that
I was rich in what really counts
Family, friends, good health,
And a higher being I can always count on
Asking not for anything in return
But just one request
Acknowledge me and say
I love you, I love you
And that voice will say back
I will do the rest
