To Winter’s Gentle Whisper

To winter's gentle whisper
A heart misunderstood
In silent throes
She cups and holds
The breath I beg to give

Her dress seems everlasting
But purer than her sin
For when we meet
'tis bittersweet
When our lips will part again

Though my heart is slowly breaking
As your touch still haunts my skin
My soul will weep
For nights of sleep
Wrapped in your arms again
