To Write a Love Poem

There a million ways to write a love poem
Time and time again it has been done
By suitors and matchmakers alike
Using pretty words to woo the girl
Or scribbled in the secret journal
By the lass whose heart longs

There are a million ways to write a love poem
You can compare love to a burning fire
How it consumes the mind and demands attention
Love has been named a flower, a soft flowing river
Compared to the sunset or beauty of a forest
Called the electricity that beats through the heart

There are a million ways to write a love poem
To tell the tale of how the heart was won over
Each line used numerous times and ways
The race to find the most elegant form
To say the simplest of feelings

There are a million ways to write a love poem
A hundred ways to say one's deepest feelings
At it's very core it all means one thing
"I simply and deeply love you"
And I think, perhaps, that is the best way to say it after all
