Today I walked outside
To look at the daffodils
coming up through the snow.
They stood tall, their
Green shoots eager to grow.

I saw a little boy, with eyes the color of the sky,
Riding his bike down the grey lanes
And He said, "Hi."

I stood by the road and many people waved.
I'm not sure if they thought I was insane
Or just looking for something
To ease the pain.

As I stood looking, a dog ran up,
Grey fur and a limp,
He'd had it rough.
He licked my hand, and
That was enough.

But I can't figure out
This feeling inside
Somewhere, somehow,
Like everything has died.
