If this is the end of our friendship,
I would think so.

The months have been heartless,
filled with resentment and annoyance.

The last time we did this, we ended things poorly,
maybe that time it was just fortuity.

This time I thought things would go different,
but that was just me expecting maturity.

Both times we parted of little regret,
only to find our friendship marred.

Maybe this time it is the end of our bond.

Those who want, but do not earn,
must pay profoundly in their turn.
