Too Many Self-Interested Parties

History shows the worst men are self-interested
And the least of them do not care
If a baby's family is not there,
Or beautiful girls are forced to wear stable heads.

Countries are frayed on all sides, and nations crack,
The young and bright cannot make a living,
And fissures broke as they laughed dining,
And what was living fell unto the rack,

Too many interested parties by and by,
The plagues and thieves of honest crops,
The bears and pigs and loose milk sops,
All tightly wound, their pleasure nigh.
