Totalitarianism

For a time, there was speech
And with it came freedom;
Yet, the speech was deemed wrong
And anew birthed unfreedom

Then came politics,
And with it the partisans,
And their speech was conducted on every matter;
Though, their speech did not last long,
For it was deemed wrong,
And certainly destined to shatter

Again, there was suppression of voices
and repression of thoughts
But what can be said? They were only misled
Yes, misled into oppression!
